The Ritual Sacrifice

The fall of night slowly creeps
Cloaked in a misty damp foggy snow
The moon illuminating the skies above
Giving the dark a heavy dusty glow

The forest enveloped by the mist
Hauntingly calling from deep within
The wolf howling in the backdrop
Calling to hear itís nearest of kin

From a distance the figures gather
Cloaked in shrouds of darkness black
Proceeding in a long serpent line
Trailing behind them a writhing sack

The lead holding a torch of burning light
Guiding the covet to depths beyond reason
In the remoteness a chant of tribute is sung
For the sacrifice of the brand new season

Humming of the tribute fills the distant air
A scream forthcoming bridled and raw
As the forest covets the evils left untold
Encompassing the rituals that you never saw

The eve of darkness shielding their faces
Leaving in orderly fashion no sack in trail
Proceeding to abscond from within the forest cover
Exultation in their sacrament of no avail

The forest now barren of all cloaks and light
The moonbeams shining its luminous rays
Upon the alter of the human sacrificial ritual
Silhouetting an incandescing body as it lays
